In memory of our friend,
Linda G. Walworth - KE5TF
July 3, 1946 - December 30, 2008

Linda was born on July 3, 1946 in Sentinel Oklahoma, and her family moved to Pasadena, Texas when she was four years old.  She was a 1964 graduate of Deer Park High School.  She married Bob Walworth N5ET on May 5, 1973.  Due to her hubby's interest in ham radio, Linda got her ham license around 1978 and received the callsign KA5FUI.  She and Bob became members of the Texas DX Society in December 1981 (Member #94 and #95 respectively).  Linda served as an officer of TDXS when she held the office of Secretary in 1989.  She loved chasing DX so much that she had her own station set-up next to Bob's with her own Kenwood TS-120S with outboard VFO and a Collins 30L1 amplifier.  Santa was good to Linda for Christmas 1982 when she received a new Alpha 76A three-holer amplifier!  When Bob and Linda moved to Spring, Texas in October 1984, Linda decided it was time for a callsign change and received KE5TF.  Her years of DXing prowess was rewarded on December 12, 2002 when she earned #1 DXCC Honor Roll-Mixed.  Linda was also member #992 of the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society (ARLHS), and a Life Member of the American Radio Relay League.

In July 2005, Linda and Bob spent a month touring Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, and the Isle of Man with ham friends Peter GM3OFT and his XYL Bel.  Linda enjoyed handling the pile-ups as she signed MM/KE5TF/P from IOTA islands Great Cumbrae, Rassay and the Isle of Skye.  Amateur radio was an important part of Linda's life and she always looked forward to meeting all her friends at the club meetings, banquets, conventions, and Field Day events.

Linda loved spending her afternoons and evenings doing "counted cross-stitch" pictures.  A large picture could take 6 or 7 months to do and the results were amazing.  Her other interests were reading and feeding her beloved squirrels in the backyard.

Linda lost her 1 year and 9 month battle with cancer on December 30, 2008.  She was one of the kindest and sweetest persons one could ever know, and she will be deeply missed by all her friends in TDXS.
